IMPACT FOUNDATION - CURE AND PREVENTION OF CATARACT CAUSED BLINDNESS, DHAKA

The objective of the proposed project is to creating access to surgical and non-surgical eye care services for the underserved population, residing on the banks of different rivers of Bangladesh and enabling themselves for avoiding permanent blindness.

Over the years, BACHAO’s funding has been used for:


  • Screening and treatment: Patients will be treated through OPD of Jibon Tari in six days a week from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm. Identified cataract patients will be registered for cataract surgery.
  • Clinical investigation: Before performing cataract surgery, all registered patients will be examined for identifying patients’ physical fitness for surgeries. Jibon Tari floating hospital has the arrangement for common clinical, pathological and radiological investigations.
  • Surgery: IFB will organize eye surgery camps through hiring specialist Ophthalmologist  who are volunteering with IFB for the betterment of underserved population. Surgery will be performed at Impact Jibon Tari Floating Hospital where we have a large operation theatre with modern medical equipment.
  • Follow-up: Operated patients are advised to attend three times post-operative follow-up session (48 hours post-operatively, 4 and 8 weeks after surgery).
